Coco Gauff replaces Iga Swiatek on Forbes list as highest-paid female athlete

Coco Gauff landed at No. 1 spot on Forbes’ list for the highest-paid female athletes for 2024, leaving behind Iga Swiatek.

According to the American business magazine, the 20-year-old earned a total of $34.4 million this year – $9.4 million came via tournaments while $25 million was collected from sponsorship and endorsement deals.

Swiatek, who was Forbes’ highest-paid female athlete last year with $23.9 million pocketed, earned $23.8 million in 2024.

While the Pole’s money basically remained the same, Gauff still easily overtook her in the earnings category. And the endorsement deals that came following the 20-year-old’s 2023 US Open triumph have played a massive part in that.

In 2023, the American was the third on Forbes’ list with $21.7 million collected.

Gauff acknowledged that winning the US Open brought her new opportunities

According to Forbes, the world No. 3 now has 11 partners after recently inking deals with hair-care brand Carol’s Daughter, Fanatics and Naked Juice. Also, brands such as Rolex, Barilla, Baker Tilly, Bose and UPS are a part of her portfolio.

However, it is not surprising knowing that the reigning WTA Finals champion is one of the most popular tennis players but also female athletes in the United States.

“Winning US Open, obviously if you win a Grand Slam you get more brands reaching out to you. These commitments take a lot. People think we just post a photo on the internet with that brand. People don’t realize it’s like an 8-hour or 10-hour day. Lots of times you have commitments or have to do an event,” Gauff said last year.

“For me it’s just been about trying to still capitalize on the moment, but also protecting my peace and my mental health and still playing the game I love. I think my team has done a great job helping me with that.”
