Corentin Moutet is withdrawing from next week’s Bucharest tournament because he is still mentally impacted by his recent Miami Masters incident and doesn’t feel he is in a state where he can go out and compete properly.
In case you missed it, there were some wild scenes during the Frenchman’s second-round clash against Chilean Alejandro Tabilo. Since the match was taking place in Miami – a city known for its Hispanic and Latino population – it wasn’t surprising that the Chilean tennis player received pretty strong support.
And at one point, Moutet got into it with a group of fans from the crowd, making some hand gestures. That didn’t go without a response and that’s when the real scene started as the Frenchman stopped play and wanted someone thrown out of the stands. After it didn’t happen and he also lost the second set, the world No. 76 started arguing with the chair umpire, supervisor and even Tabilo.

After the Frenchman was handed a game penalty and went on to lose in three sets, the group of fans in question loudly celebrated as he was exiting the court and even Tabilo joined in.
Moutet withdraws from Bucharest
“Unfortunately, I have decided to withdraw from the Bucharest tournament. I don’t feel ready mentally yet after Miami incident. Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to coming back stronger,” the world No. 76 wrote on X.

In Bucharest, the 25-year-old Frenchman made his debut last year and reached the quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, after the Miami match, Moutet claimed that he was “insulted for three hours.”
“I only asked to bring out of the court the girl who did a middle finger to me But apparently I’m guilty again Sorry guys I should have accepted that It’s my fault I should have stayed focused even if people insulted me for 3 hours I will never do this again I’m sorry,” he wrote on Instagram afterward.
