Daniil Medvedev reveals it would take an absolutely massive amount of money for him to consider retiring at this exact moment as the Russian would think about walking away from pro tennis only if someone offered him a billion right now.
For the past several years, the world No. 5 has been one of the best players in the game. And being one of the best usually results in generating some nice money in tournament prize money but also from sponsors and endorsement deals.
According to the ATP website, the 2021 US Open champion earned $5.5 million this year from competing in tournaments and also collected nearly $44 million so far in his career – that makes him one of the top earners from his generation.

Medvedev on the sum it would take for him to consider retirement now
For some, the Russian’s earnings would be enough to already call it a career at 28. But when it comes to the former world No. 1 who turns 29 in February, that isn’t the case.
“I think this sum doesn’t exist or it’s very big. I’d say a billion. For that amount, I would probably think about it. Let’s just say that I love money. Tennis sometimes gets on my nerves, but that’s also why I love it. It’s hard to live without competition, so I try, I play, I win,” Medvedev said in an interview with BetBoom’s YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, the world No. 5 didn’t win a single this year – it was the first season since 2017 that it was the case.
After finishing his ATP Finals run in the group stage, the Medvedev revealed that he would try to make some changes and adjustments to his game in the offseason and see if that helps him compete better against the likes of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
