The men’s draw at the Madrid Open is pretty fair and balanced. Novak Djokovic is in the lower half, and he could potentially face Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals.

Top-seeded Alexander Zverev, fresh off the Munich title, has a tricky path that could see him face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the third round and either Arthur Fils or Francisco Cerundolo in the round of 16.

Zverev, Djokovic and Alcaraz have won five of the last six titles at Madrid, but not last year’s. Andrey Rublev won the crown in 2024, and the Russian is a potential quarterfinal opponent for Zverev, if the seeds hold.

Last week’s Barcelona champion Holger Rune is also in the top half, along with Casper Ruud, Taylor Fritz and Daniil Medvedev, who are all in the same quarter.

Three-time champion Djokovic, who last won the title in 2019, is slated to face Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi or a qualifier in the second round after a bye. If the seeds hold, Djokovic would face Sebastian Baez in the third round and either Frenaces Tiafoe or Ugo Humbert in the round of 16, followed by Jack Draper in the quarterfinals. But don’t sleep on No.30-seeded Matteo Berrettini in that section. He’s slated to face Draper in the third round.

Alcaraz, the 2022 and 2023 champion, will face either Zizou Bergs or Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round. He would face Jiri Lehecka, the No.26 seed, in the third round, and either Tomas Machac or Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16. If seeds hold he is looking at a quarterfinal with either Lorenzo Musetti or Alex de MInaur, but Stefanos Tsitsipas could also be there.
