Emma Raducanu, Madison Keys sign up for historic WTA Queen’s return

Emma Raducanu has signed up to compete at the WTA 500 tournament in Queen’s and she will be joined by a couple of other big names, including reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys.

This year, the Queen’s Club will be hosting a women’s tournament for the first time since 1973.

Last week, the HSBC Championships confirmed Naomi Osaka as a participant.

Today, the event organizers announced a couple of more well-known names – Raducanu, Keys and Katie Boulter.

Since the WTA Queen’s is starting on June 9th – a day after the French Open ends – it means that the players mentioned above will start their grass season at the Queen’s Club.

Daria Kasatkina, ranked at No. 11 in the world, was also confirmed for the tournament a couple of days ago.

WTA Queen’s set for a comeback in style

After a couple of early signings, there is no doubt that it will be a very strong player field in Queen’s this year.

And while Raducanu will be a home favorite, there is no doubt that fans will be very excited to see Keys, who recently triumphed at Melbourne Park in a very impressive way.

“I can’t wait for the HSBC Championships,” the reigning Australian Open winner said in a statement.

“Getting to compete there for the first time and experience playing at The Queen’s Club is going to be such a special occasion.

“I love the grass court season, some of my favorite memories of my career have come when I won titles in Birmingham and Eastbourne.”

Meanwhile, WTA Queen’s tournament director Laura Robson said: “I’m thrilled to confirm Katie, Emma, Madison and Naomi will be headlining the HSBC Championships in June.

“Fans will see some of the best female players on the planet, and with three grand slam champions and the British number one in the mix, it promises to be a spectacular return to The Queen’s Club for women’s tennis.”
