Emma Raducanu doesn’t want to make any clear predictions for her 2025 season as the Briton suggests even she is not quite sure about what is possible and just wants to “explore” things this year.
In 2024, the 22-year-old enjoyed a solid post-surgery comeback, making one WTA semifinal and finishing the season just outside the top-60 in the world.
While Raducanu proved last season that she could make some solid results, there are bigger expectations on her than just making an occasional deep run and being ranked around the top-50 in the world.
”I constantly set goals and re-evaluate but for next year my outlook and approach is genuinely just like exploring how far I can go, how much of my potential I can reach,” the 22-year-old explained in Auckland.
“I don’t think it’s like a one year – ‘yeah, I’ve hit it, you know, I’m going to hit it all this year’. [I’ve] got myself into a place where I can get into tournaments with my ranking and now it’s just about pushing on and seeing how far I can go.”

Raducanu’s 2025 season started in a negative way
In the offseason, the Briton hired Maria Sharapova’s former long-time fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura to help her get stronger and minimize the risk of injuries.
But then, she was forced to withdraw from her very first scheduled tournament of the year in Auckland due to a back injury.
In her message, Raducanu said it was a recently contracted niggle and insisted that she did her best to play but just didn’t make it.
Unless she accepts a wildcard into some of next week’s WTA tournaments, the former world No. 10 will possibly enter the Australian Open without any matches played.
Anyway, it was not the start of the year that Raducanu desired.
