Former American ace analyzes Frances Tiafoe’s current status

Frances Tiafoe is certainly one of the most spectacular players on the ATP tour, and fans love watching him play. The American ace has a very unpredictable game and is very good at putting his opponents in trouble by taking them out of their comfort zone.

At the same time, Tiafoe is still a very erratic player and this has prevented him from winning prestigious titles so far in his career. Frances alternated good results with premature eliminations in 2024, reaching the final at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 and the semifinal at the US Open as her best results.

The young American was defeated by Jannik Sinner in Cincinnati, while in the semifinals of the US Open he had to surrender to his compatriot and friend Taylor Fritz after a great battle on the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Roddick opens up on Tiafoe

Tiafoe is 26 years old and the right time has come to try to become a top player. The Cincinnati Masters 1000 finalist was the only player capable of putting Carlos Alcaraz in serious trouble in the last edition of the Wimbledon Championships, losing only in the fifth set after leading by two sets to one.

On the latest edition of his well-known podcast, former American ace Andy Roddick commented on Tiafoe’s 2024 season: “I think by his own admission he would tell you his year started at Wimbledon.

He was barely winning back-to-back matches aside from Houston, and had a really bad start to the year, so you can digest that a couple of ways.

What went wrong, I’m sure he has had a lot of time to think about that, then he almost beats Carlos Alcaraz on Centre Court at Wimbledon, kind of out of nowhere.

Then has a really good summer, starts in Washington DC, makes a run there to the semis, Finals in Cincinnati.”

Roddick continued: “He is a joy to watch and be around and he would probably tell you ‘I want to be consistent’. Am I a top five guy?

Can I produce the level that I have consistently produced at the US Open for 15 weeks a year?”
