The PGA Tour plays its trump cards with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, scheduled in California from tomorrow to Sunday 2 February. At Pebble Beach everything is ready for the second ‘signature event’ of the top US circuit that will offer 20,000,000 dollars up for grabs, of which 3,600,000 will go to the winner.

The fifth regular tournament of the FedEx Cup, it will see, in the first two rounds (which will be played on two different courses, the Pebble Beach Golf Links and the Spyglass Hill), celebrity amateurs alongside 80 champions. There is no cut and the big names in the discipline will compete for the title at Pebble Beach Links in the last 36 holes. The field includes 45 of the top 50 in the world ranking, starting with number 1, Scheffler. Making his debut in 2025, the American returns to the field after a home injury during Christmas dinner, which forced him to undergo surgery. Winner of seven PGA Tour tournaments in 2024 (including The Masters), king of the FedEx Cup, gold medal at the Paris Games, and also a box office champion, he will be the man to beat. Among his main opponents on the field are McIlroy (third), Collin Morikawa (fourth), Hideki Matsuyama (fifth), Ludvig Aberg (sixth), second in 2024, Wyndham Clark (seventh), who will defend the title he won last year, Viktor Hovland (ninth) and Tommy Fleetwood (tenth).
Fun fact: the tournament hasn’t been decided by a playoff since 2008. And while there are 62 winners on the PGA Tour in the field, there are five past winners. With Clark, there are also Justin Rose (2023), Tom Hoge (2022), Nick Taylor (2020) and Jordan Spieth. Among the big names to keep an eye on is also Justin Thomas, a player who has found his form after two years of disappointing results.
