The Genesis Invitational is a special competition, which arouses the interest of golfers as well as the public.
Tiger Woods was supposed to perform at this year’s tournament, however, the death of his mother was the reason for the 48-year-old to miss this tournament. The legendary golfer had a deep connection with his mother, their relationship was special, and the influence she had on his career was incredible.
Tiger Woods sent an emotional message after her death, saying that his mother was his biggest support in life. Tiger has taken a period of rest, requesting privacy, during these difficult times.
However, The Genesis Invitational officials decided to honor his late mother, with a flag stick placed on the seventh green. With this, they wanted to show how much they respect his mother, but also Tiger, who left a huge mark by playing in this competition.
“In a tribute to @TigerWoods’ late mother Tida, the 7th hole @TheGenesisInv will feature an all white flag.
A native of Thailand, Tida was a faithful Buddhist, and the No. 7 and color white are significant in Buddhism and will be displayed in her honor.”- they wrote on X.
Of course, there is a connection between the color white and Buddhism, the religion practiced by Tiger’s mother.
Tiger Woods’ return
It is not yet known when the 48-year-old will return to golf courses, nor do we know what his plans are. It is certain that Woods wants to return as soon as possible, to catch the rhythm, and make golf fans happy.
The injuries that created massive problems for him in the past are the reason why we haven’t had the chance to watch this great golfer for a long time.
Although he is 48 years old, we believe that he still has a strong motive, but also the quality necessary for success.
