High school freshman and the top-ranked golfer of his generation, Blades Brown announced Tuesday that he will resign from his amateur status and turn professional.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Blades Brown said he will skip college golf and will make his PGA Tour debut at the American Express in La Quinta, Calif., in January.
Blades Brown, statements
“I am ready to begin the next chapter of my golf career and will be competing professionally in 2025,” he wrote.
“This is not a decision I make without thinking. I have spent the last few months weighing all my options before deciding what I know is best for me. While I am proud of my accomplishments in my amateur career, my focus is on the future and getting my professional career off to a good start.” »
The Nashville, Tennessee native joined Tiger Woods and Bobby Clampett last summer by becoming the first player since those two greats to win a medal in the US Amateur and US Junior.
We’ve already had the opportunity to mention Brown’s name since he finished in the top 30 at the Myrtle Beach Classic last May.
According to our information, the AMEX organizers are not the only ones to have promised sponsor invitations to the young man in 2025. We should therefore find him at the start of several tournaments next year.
The Rules of Golf are a set of rules and standard procedures by which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and administered by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body of golf throughout the world, except in the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association. An expert committee, made up of members of the R&A and the USGA, oversees and refines the Rules every four years. The latest revision was effective January 1, 2016. Changes to the Rules of Golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding of the Rules and those that reduce penalties in certain cases to ensure balance. The rulebook, entitled “The Rules of Golf,” is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy, the Federgolf is responsible for supervising competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and managing the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
