Jack Nicklaus’ bold statement on Tiger Woods’ potential to break his major record

Tiger Woods is the man golf fans expected to truly break Jack Nicklaus’ Majors records. Although this great golfer was well on his way to actually accomplishing such a feat, frequent injuries, and probably age, have meant that Tiger has yet to achieve it, and it is indeed difficult to expect him to.

Even five years ago, the 48-year-old golfer stressed that it is difficult to achieve success in today’s period, given the many factors that are changing in the world of golf.

“There’s not as many [opportunities to win] as when I first started playing. The reality is that the golf courses are getting bigger. They are getting longer. The margin between making the cut and the lead is a lot smaller than it used to be. Used to be sometimes 12 to 15 shots.”-Woods said at the time.

Tiger Woods stressed that the difference is much smaller now, and that it is much harder to win a regular event. The legendary golfer looked back at the Majors, saying that we mostly see the same faces. His views really have logic. Watching golf in previous years, we could notice what changes are happening, but of course younger blood is also coming, and this sport is also progressing.

Jack Nickalus reacts to his statements

Five years later, Jack Nicklaus, looking back on Tiger’s statements, admitted that if Tiger remained healthy, there were great chances to break the record.

“If he remained healthy I think he would’ve gotten it, but he didn’t remain healthy,” Nicklaus said, as quoted by Athlon Sports.

The popular golfer is delighted with Tiger’s career, admitting that he feels bad because of everything that happened to Woods during his career.

“He’s had a relatively good career.”- he said.

Tiger still has problems with injuries, but hopefully he will return to the big stage soon.
