The biggest dilemma in the golf scene is which Major is the hardest to win. It seems that there is a generally accepted opinion among the golf public that the Masters is the most important Major of all, but it is clear that we cannot underestimate the other three, knowing how difficult they are to win.
Jack Nicklaus, a well-known face of the golf scene and a legend of this sport, spoke to National Club Golfer about the most difficult Major to win. The 85-year-old emphasized the weather conditions, stressing that the weather at the PGA Championship is generally more favorable. This also means that it is easy to maintain the lead in that tournament.
“Well, the weather at the PGA is fairly benign. So to take a lead in the PGA Championship, you’re not going to have a weather issue usually; whereas the Masters, you can have a perfect Saturday and a gale on Sunday.”- Jack Nicklaus said.

The golf icon, on the other hand, favors tournaments with bad conditions, stressing that he would prefer to have the lead in such tournaments, considering that the players behind him would have a much harder job. The PGA Championship, on the other hand, is a competition that, according to him, is much more difficult to maintain the lead.
“The US Open can be similar because it’s coming out of spring and of course the British Open, you never know what you’re going to have.
Frankly, if I had the lead, I would welcome the bad weather day. Because the bad weather day, really, if you’re behind, it’s really difficult to shoot a good score.
And generally speaking, if your golf game is pretty good, you can figure some way to hack it around if you have a lead somehow because nobody is going to come at you. PGA would be difficult.”
The American golfer won the PGA Championship as many as five times in his career, while he won Masters six times. Jack was also successful at the U.S. Open, winning four times, while he managed to win three times at The Open Championship.
