World no. 1 Jannik Sinner is spending his 19th season on the ATP throne. Jannik has been the dominant figure in men’s tennis this year, winning 65 of 71 matches and lifting the Tour-leading seven ATP titles, including five notable ones. The Italian has forged a vast 4800 ATP points lead over his closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, securing the year-end no. 1 honor and many more weeks at the top. The two-time Major winner stands one week before Mats Wilander’s 20 no. 1 weeks and will match the great Swede following Monday. After that, no one will be between Sinner and Alcaraz, with the Spaniard standing on 36 weeks on the ATP throne. Jannik will almost certainly keep Carlos behind after next year’s Australian Open despite defending 2000 ATP points. The San Candido native will pass his great rival if he stays at the top until the beginning of February, which is a very likely scenario. Sinner fell to Carlos in that epic Beijing final.
