Jannik Sinner shares a very deep honor to Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill

Shortly before the start of the tournament Darren Cahill announced that this will be his last season as a coach. A decision taken to be close to his family. Since the Australian coach joined Simone Vagnozzi, Jannik Sinner has shown notable improvements, reaching the top of the world. The Italian described his relationship with Darren after the victory against Alex De Minaur.

“The most important part with him is the human one. He always says what he thinks. He has become much more than a coach for me, as is Simone Vagnozzi. We have established a very close relationship, we talk a lot about everything. I am really happy that both of them are by my side,” he admitted to Eurosport microphones.

These are Vagnozzi’s words about his colleague: “You know how much I get along with Darren. I am sorry, but I understand him well because he has really done this job for many years. For now we are thinking about what we can do this year and then in a few months we will see what happens.

Can I do it alone? I don’t know if my wife at home will agree. I think we will need someone because alone 50 weeks a year away would be complicated. We will see, we haven’t talked about it, the year has just started and we still have a lot of travel, a lot of kilometers and a lot of tournaments. I can say that they have been important years and that today thanks to Darren I feel like a better coach,” he said.

“Tough matches in the semifinals, also Djokovic-Zverev. They have played a lot in the past. I’m not good at predicting, I feel like a journalist at the moment! I’m not the best, to be honest, as a person to interview,” said Sinner said, with Courier admitting that he was asked to keep him on the court a bit longer to entertain the crowd, considering the short duration of his match.

On Ben Shelton, he concluded: “We played tough matches last year, he’s one of those who serves better, left-handed, the rotation of the ball is different from the baseline. I hope to be able to respond as much as possible and stay focused like I did today. And hopefully it’ll be a good match for you too.”
