Jay Monahan says no deal with LIV on the horizon despite White House meetings

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan is in the spotlight, as he always has been. The familiar face of the golf scene has often been the subject of various discussions, especially since the moment the PGA and PIF signed a framework agreement. PGA officials, as well as LIV officials, recently had two meetings at the White House, with Donald Trump as a mediator.

Jay Monahan revealed in an interview with SI how things stand at the moment, and whether a deal could be confirmed in the coming days. Jay Monahan emphasized that he does not see such a scenario anytime soon.

“I don’t see that happening, no.”- he said, as quoted by Golf Magic.

Jay Monahan admitted that the situation is complex, and that it is difficult to make a true judgment about what will happen in the coming days. The PGA commissioner seems cautious, aware that any statement he makes could provoke reactions and cause chaos.

“I think anything I’ve said is consistent with what should be said when you’re in the middle of a complex discussion to try and unify the game.”

Jay Monahan reacts

After the PGA officials and PIF met, the public immediately took to the air, giving predictions about when a final deal would be reached. Although there was general optimism that we could soon see such a scenario, it seems that we will have to be patient for the next few months. No one has a definitive answer when this story will finally have a positive epilogue, but optimism is clearly not lacking on both sides.

“It doesn’t speak to my confidence level, it speaks to the moment. I view that meeting as a huge step, and so I look at that very positive.”- he said.

Jay Monahan believes the final deal is what fans want, optimistic that it will help the golf world finally get back on its feet.

It is really difficult to give a true answer to what the future holds when it comes to an agreement between two parties.
