John Isner told quite a story on the latest episode of his podcast as the former American tennis star claims an an anti-doping offical once followed him to an airport’s bathroom so he could collect a sample for a doping test.
When it comes to the 2024 season, one of the main storylines has been the high-profile doping cases of Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek.
Also, there was a lot of attention on Simona Halep, who was finally allowed to return to action in March following a successful appeal to the CAS.
And because of the recent developments, there has been a lot of focus on doping tests in tennis and several top players across the ATP and WTA Tours confirmed that they indeed get frequently tested.
Now, former Wimbledon semifinalist Isner confirms that was also the case during his career, which spanned for 16 years between 2007 and 2023.

Isner: A drug tested followed me to airport and then the bathroom
“I went to the airport with a drug tester because I had a flight. I’m like, ‘Dude, I have a flight at 8 am, I just went to the bathroom.’ He followed me to the Tampa Airport,” the former world No. 8 said on the Nothing Major podcast, which he hosts with Sam Querrey, John Isner and Jack Sock.
“I told him once I finish with the check-in process, I’ll likely have to go to the bathroom so I’m not going to go through security. I kind of told him that was the deal and he’s like, ‘All right!’.
“Sure enough, I checked my bags in. Had him go through the security and told him I could pee now and he would go to the airport bathroom, that happened one time.”

Also, Isner noted that players can’t allow themselves three missed doping tests in a span of 12 months or otherwise they get banned like Jenson Brooksby and Mikael Ymer.because the anti-doping authorities assume you are hiding something.
