JUST IN: Viktor Troicki shares ‘gossip’ he heard about Novak Djokovic

Former Serbian tennis star Viktor Troicki reveals the word he is hearing is that Novak Djokovic is about to hire a big coaching name for the 2025 season.

After collaborating with Goran Ivanisevic for six years and concluding their partnership in April, the record 24-time Grand Slam champion opted not to hire a full-time coach for the rest of 2024. Instead, he was assisted by coaches associated with the Serbian Tennis Federation.

But according to Serbian Davis Cup team captain Troicki, that could change very quickly.

“I am glad that Novak stated that he is at 100 percent starting preparations for the new season. We saw each other briefly, and I even heard that something was brewing with a new coach, with a big name. I don’t know anything about that. That’s the gossip I heard yesterday, I didn’t hear from him,” the former world No. 12 told Sport Klub.

Troicki: If Djokovic wants it, he can do it

This was the first year since 2017 in which the 37-year-old didn’t land any Grand Slams. But he accomplished another major dream and goal – became an Olympic gold medalist for the first time in his career and completed his resume.

This year, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz dominated the Slam scene and split titles between them. However, Troicki warns that if Djokovic is determined and motivated to return to winning Majors next year, he can probably do it.

“If so, I really believe that he is very motivated and that he wants to come back next year in the right light. This year, his main focus was on the Olympic Games, and he showed that – when he really wants something, he can make it happen, it was like that before and in his career. If he trains properly, we can expect many more titles from him. He has time to prepare properly,” the former three-time ATP champion added.

Meanwhile, Djokovic concluded his 2024 season early after skipping the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals.
