Karolina Muchova gets brutally honest on Iga Swiatek demolishing her in Indian Wells

Karolina Muchova kept it straight honest following her brutal Indian Wells round-of-16 defeat, acknowledging that she wasn’t doing anything well on the court while Iga Swiatek sensed blood and “pressed even harder.”

After the Czech and the Pole set up a round-of-16 meeting in the desert, fans were hoping the two could deliver something similar to the 2023 French Open final. But this time, their match was very far from any drama as the defending champion ousted the No. 15 seed 6-1 6-1 in less than an hour of play.

One stat area showed the best how dominant Swiatek was as the world No. 2 created 11 break point chances and converted five, while not allowing Muchova any break points.

“It was a bad day in every way. Nothing worked for me. I didn’t feel good. Iga played very well, and when she sees some weaknesses on the other side, she presses even harder,” the Czech said on C+ Sport.

Also, Muchova was disappointed that she wasn’t able to translate work from practice sessions to main action.

“I worked on some technical improvements in training, but I didn’t show any of them today. I hope they will be seen in Miami,” the former world No. 8 added.

Swiatek kept it respectful toward Muchova

After dismantling the 28-year-old in Indian Wells, the Pole revealed that she and the Czech practiced a week earlier and that there wasn’t much separating the two in quality or intensity.

“We practiced last week, and we had a pretty similar level. You know, it’s tennis. Things like that can happen. But for sure I used to my opportunities and I used to my chances, and I was pretty focused and composed today,” the five-time Grand Slam champion said.

Also, Swiatek said in her presser that certain matches finish with “weird” scorelines and noted that it usually happens when one player has a bad day while the other has a great day.

Basically, the Pole was telling that happened in her and Muchova’s Indian Wells match.
