LIV Golf has many plans that they want to realize in the coming period. An important figure in this story will be the star of this Tour, Kevin Na, who is also the captain of IronHeads GC.
The 41-year-old golfer is looking forward to the first LIV tournament in South Korea, an idea he has championed for a long time. Although the experienced golfer planned to bring LIV to South Korea earlier, the procedure that preceded everything meant that he had to wait three years.
“There are a lot of things that have to be done and figured out before they give it the thumbs up. You have to get the blessings of the tour, you have to get the blessings of the golf courses.”- he told Golf Monthly.
Koreans are known as a nation that loves discipline, and they do careful analysis before giving the green light for any sporting event. Kevin Na decided to talk to important golf figures in the country where he was born, and to ask for help so that LIV could arrive in this Asian country as soon as possible. The 32-year-old golfer is proud that such a big tournament will be played in his country, with three Korean players in the team.
“A lot of these Korean golf courses, they’re very picky about what tournaments they host because of the members and it’s such a high price in membership that the members have to OK it.
But there are a few people who really have influence on golf in Korea, and those are the people I called for help to get this contract done and get Jack Nicklaus Golf Club to come on board.
We’re extremely excited to have a tournament in Korea, with three Korean-born players on our team. We worked really hard, I personally worked very hard to get that tournament in Korea and have the right people help us to get it over the line. Every step of the way, getting the tournament there, I was a part of it.”- he concluded.
