Lexi Thompson returns to action for first tournament of 2025

Lexi Thompson has decided to return to the world of golf, but not full-time. The American golfer confirmed last year that she was retiring, but later stressed that it was all about her full schedule, confirming that she still intends to play in LPGA tournaments and Majors.

The 29-year-old golfer cleared up doubts in a media interview, saying that she will play in the Founders Cup. The experienced golfer still does not know how many tournaments she will play, but it is clear that she plans to play in several of them.

“Like I said before when I made the announcement, it’s just from full-time golf. I may tee it up a few times next year. A matter of when and what tournaments, I don’t know. I am just going to take time for myself and take it day by day,” she said, as quoted by Golf Monthly.

The Chevron Championship will probably also be the tournament where she will perform, and it is also the first Major in the year she celebrated in 2014.

It is important to point out that this year’s Founders Cup will be somewhat different from previous editions, considering that the US Virgin Islands will be a new sponsor.

Lexi Thompson’s earlier statements

In May of last year, Thompson stressed that golf is no longer a priority in her life, especially when we know that she started her professional career as a little girl. The American golfer is looking forward to a new chapter in her life, wanting to see what life has to offer her in the future.

“There’s more things to life than going to a tournament every week and doing the same training every day. There’s just more to it, and I’m looking forward to experiencing that.

I feel like I’m very content with where my life is and where this decision will lead me to. Yeah, I’m just looking forward to what life has in store other than golf.”- Thompson said.
