LIV Golf leaders took advantage of the break by working diligently on new projects. Already a few months ago, they announced that they would take a big step, with the desire to make this story even more popular. Judging by some data, the Saudi-backed Tour has made progress in recent months, but the leaders of this Tour are still not satisfied.
However, that dissatisfaction could turn into general delight, given that they are on the verge of signing a contract with one of the largest US TV channels.
The controversial tour, judging by the captions, is in the final stages of negotiations with Fox, one of the most popular TV channels. For the last three years, LIV Golf put emphasis on some other things, but they realized that without a contract with a well-known TV company, it is difficult to reach the goal.
If this deal happens, and it probably will, the popularity of this Tour could increase rapidly, which will certainly deepen the concern of the rival Tour, the PGA.
LIV Golf CEO admitted last month that not having a network deal is a huge problem. Greg Norman stressed that they are in negotiations with some of the companies, aiming to make this product even better. Although they were primarily not interested in reaching a deal with TV companies, they realized that without this step it is difficult to achieve greater progress.
“Where we’re falling short is due to the headwinds in not getting a network [TV] deal,” Norman said. “That creates uncertainty in the marketplace. [A lot of companies say] let’s see what happens. That rolls into sponsorship. We have an enormous number of big corporations who are talking to us and would be very keen to come on.”
Do you think that after this, LIV will gain new fans and become a product that will be followed all over the planet? It will be interesting to see.
