LIV Golf: Seth Waugh labels it a “failed economic experiment.”

The former CEO of the PGA of America, Seth Waugh, is a man who often expressed his opinion regarding the situation on the golf scene, but with his departure from this position, it seems that we haven’t seen him much in the media.

However, in an interview with Golfweek, the popular golf figure decided to talk about current topics in the world of golf, such as the influence of Donald Trump on this sport.

Donald Trump came to power on Monday and officially became the new president of the USA.

Waugh seems to have analyzed the situation on the golf scene in the previous months, thinking about the ideal solution, especially when it comes to the agreement between the PGA Tour and PIF, which is still not finalized.

Seth believes that Trump could help this sport, but also admits that he is concerned about the current situation.

“I’m surprised it’s taken as long as it has. It’s complicated, but I’ve done a lot of complicated things that haven’t taken this long. That part of it is sort of indefensible.

I think there will be a deal for a couple fundamental reasons. You and I have had this conversation, but LIV is a failed economic experiment. Disruption needs one of two things, hopefully both: you need a better product or you need better pricing. No way you can say they’re a superior product and they have no pricing because there’s no economics. It’s not sustainable.”- Waugh said, as quoted by Golf Monthly.

Seth Waugh talks about LIV and 54 holes system

Seth is not sure that LIV can ‘push’ this story for a long time and stay on the golf scene, especially because there is no interest from fans, and also sponsors are not open to investing more money in this story.

The former PGA of America CEO expects both sides to be more open, especially with new faces appearing on both Tours.

However, Seth stressed that some lessons can be learned from LIV, putting an accent on the 54 holes.
