Carlos Alcaraz’s eagerness to go partying with his friends was a subject of huge debate after his Netflix documentary was released, but it seems to have been given the green light to celebrate his epic French Open final win against Jannik Sinner by his inner circle.
Alcaraz’s manager Albert Molina and his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero were open in their criticism of Alcaraz after he went on a party trip with his brother and friends after he lifted his first Roland Garros title last year.
Viewers were surprised by the honesty of the comments from Molina and Ferrero, with former players suggesting it was evidence that the young Spaniard lacks the focus to become one of the game’s all-time greats.
Yet he returned from his trip to Ibiza last year and defended his Wimbledon title in sparkling fashion, which justified his period of down time after his Roland Garros win.
Now Ferrero has spoken about Alcaraz’s plan to repeat his post-French Open party after he pulled off a miraculous win against Sinner.

Boris Becker and Andre Agassi make bold statements about Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner
“He’s switching off. Yesterday I told him to have a good time, that he deserved it, but to remember that he’s a tennis player at all times,” said Ferrero.
“We already know what he’s like. He’s doing well and when he comes back, he comes back in a good place, refreshed.
“It’s not the word party anymore, it’s the disconnection from being with his friends, from not thinking about tennis and from being a normal 22-year-old.
“He does go on vacation, but only occasionally. He’s not there every day, as people think.”
Ferrero spoke to the media after the French Open final in Paris, with his admiration for his young charge shining through after he fought back from three match points down to find a way to win.
“I think he born to play these kind of moments,” said Ferrero. “Every time that we stay in these situations, even when he was younger in the challengers, in the 250, in the 500, when he had the big opportunities for him at that ages, he always went for it.
In this kind of situation of course, it’s so much more important than maybe other tournaments. But his style of game, again, I think has to be the same.
“It’s something we try to prepare his mind for these kinds of situations, like maybe the tiebreak at the fifth set. He went for it from the first point. Very brave all the time and very aggressive, trying to win the point all the time.
“Having these two guys fighting for big trophies, you know, I think we have to be very happy about it in the sport of tennis.
“For them, for sure, it’s something that they raise their level every time that they go on the court. They know they have to play unbelievable tennis to beat the other guy, and it’s something that is going to help each player to raise the level even more.”
Alcaraz is due to be the top seed at the ATP 500 tournament at the Queen’s Club, which gets underway next Monday.
The defending Wimbledon champion won the Queen’s Club tournament in 2023, but he was beaten by Jack Draper in the second round of last year’s tournament in London.
