Six-time Miami Open champion Novak Djokovic is through to the last eight in Florida! Djokovic ousted Lorenzo Musetti 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 23 minutes in the fourth round for his eighth quarter-final in Miami, the first in nine years!
World no. 5 performed at a high level and left the young gun behind on serve and return. The veteran outplayed his rival behind the first and second serve. The Serb lost serve once from the only break chance offered to his opponent.
On the other hand, Novak stole 54% of the return points and turned them into five breaks from 12 opportunities, controlling the pace and sailing over the top. Djokovic earned his eighth victory over Musetti from nine encounters.

The 37-year-old tamed his strokes nicely and fired 18 winners and 17 unforced errors. He reduced Musetti to ten direct points and 18 loose shots. They hit only 14 service winners combined, and Novak ruled the baseline and net to remain on the title course.
Novak dropped the opening two games before shifting into a higher gear and notching nine straight games for a 6-2, 3-0 lead! The six-time winner brought the victory home from there and arranged the quarter-final clash with another youngest, Sebastian Korda.

Lorenzo was off to a reliable start. He broke at 15 in the first game of the encounter after the Serb’s double fault. The Italian held in the second game and forged a 2-0 advantage before the legend launched his comeback.
Djokovic held at love in the third game and created four break chances in the next one. Novak seized the last after Lorenzo’s double fault, pulling the break back and gaining confidence. The Serb closed the fifth game after deuces and created two break points in the next one.
The 37-year-old cracked a backhand crosscourt winner on the second, delivering his second straight break and opening a 4-2 advantage. Djokovic held at love in game seven with a backhand winner and stepped in on the return at 5-2.

Musetti faced a set point and netted a routine backhand, propelling his rival 6-2 in front after 40 minutes. The six-time winner served well in the second set and kept the pressure on the other side. Lorenzo squandered a game point in game two.
The Italian faced a break point and placed a forehand long, losing serve and extending his terrible streak. Djokovic grabbed the third game with a smash winner, rattling off nine games and moving closer to the finish line.

The veteran wasted two more break points in the fourth game, allowing his rival to bring it home and remain within one break deficit. Novak clinched the fifth game at love and held after a deuce two games later with a backhand down the line winner to move 5-2 in front.
Musetti served to stay in the match in game eight and faced three match points after Djokovic’s lucky net cord. Djokovic seized the first after the opponent’s double fault, sealing the deal in style and notching his 96th Masters 1000 quarter-final at 37.
