Nick Kyrgios had a cheeky message for Emma Raducanu’s doubters and critics amid the Briton’s very promising Miami Open run, saying that they have been “awfully quiet” over the past week.
After a very slow start to 2025 and losing six of her past seven matches entering Miami, the 2021 US Open champion turned the page at the second tournament of the Sunshine Double. So far, the Briton has been looking outstanding in Miami as she crushed Sayaka Ishii with only three games lost in the first set – clinched her first top-10 hard-court win by beating Emma Navarro – and was also 6-1 3-0 up against McCartney Kessler before the American retired from their match.
But just before putting up this big Miami run, Raducanu was hearing her name being mentioned in a negative context and some labeling her a bust again.
Kyrgios hits back at Raducanu’s critics
“Nakashima has to be one of the most underrated players in the game. Also people awfully quiet that Raducanu is winning now – where all the experts at now? lol coach’s overrated,” Kyrgios wrote on X.

Meanwhile, following her latest win in Miami, Raducanu said that she turned to doing things that make her feel relaxed and free-spirited. However, she also noted that her improved game is also to credit for her great results.
“I think my movement is pretty good right now. I think I’m defending better. I think I’m returning really well. I’m pretty happy with most areas of my game. It’s just something that I’m looking to trying to keep improving,” the Briton explained.
For a place in the Miami quarterfinal, Raducanu will battle against Amanda Anisimova – the same player she defeated in the Australian Open second round in January.
