Nick Kyrgios didn’t say a word about Bernard Tomic setting a very negative record but the emoji he dropped showed clearly how he felt about his compatriot’s new low.
On Sunday, the former world No. 17 played in Fairfield his first Challenger final since 2018. And it ended in disaster after rising star Learner Tien needed just 39 minutes to absolutely annihilate the former Wimbledon quarterfinalist 6-0 6-1.
Not only that the four-time ATP champion got absolutely crushed, but he now also owns the record for the fastest final defeat in ATP Challenger history.

A decade ago, the now 31-year-old Australian also picked up the quickest loss in ATP Tour history, losing to Jarkko Nieminen in just 28 minutes at the Miami Masters.
Reacting to the four-time ATP champion’s latest negative feat, Kyrgios posted a laughing emoji.

Meanwhile, Tomic explained what happened in the Fairfield final.
“Once I lost the first two or three games, it was tough mentally staying on track. I’m sorry I couldn’t keep up with my legs,” he said.
Kyrgios shaded Tomic earlier this year as well
In May, the former world No. 13 lost the opening set 1-6 to Yuta Shimizu in the Little Rock Challenger round-of-16 before retiring from the match because he thought he had COVID.
“Bernard Tomic down 6-1 to Shimizu, but has told officials that he suspects he has covid,” tennis broadcaster Mike Catio wrote on X at the time.
Kyrgios couldn’t believe the scene as he dropped a facepalm emoji when reacting to the Catio post.

Also, the 31-year-old was involved in another bizarre situation in August when he showed up undercover to Andres Andrade’s final clash against Damir Dzumhur in Santo Domingo and attempted to provoke the Ecuadorian before leaving the court. For context, the Australian lost to Andrade in the Santo Domingo quarterfinal and there was something with the Ecuadorian that made him unhappy.
“Unreal stuff hahaha,” Kyrgios reacted after seeing the Santo Domingo scene.

Kyrgios and Tomic have a bit of history so all of this doesn’t come as a surprise.
