The new tennis season may have just started but Nick Kyrgios has already been confirmed for a grass tournament in June as the Australian signed up to play at the ATP 250 tournament in Mallorca.
This week, the 29-year-old played his first match in 18 months and kicked off his post-wrist surgery comeback in Brisbane.
If you remember well, the former world No. 13 returned from knee surgery at the start of the 2023 grass season and he was slated to play in Mallorca.
But then, Kyrgios started feeling pain and discomfort in his wrist before pulling out of the tournament. Ultimately, the Australian was diagnosed with a very serious wrist injury and there was a time when he didn’t think he would ever play again.
However, that is a thing of the past and he holds no grudges against Mallorca.
“Nick Kyrgios Returns to the Mallorca Championships for 2025. Following his doubles appearance with Novak Djokovic in Brisbane, the Australian star is ready to shine again in Mallorca,” the tournament said in a statement.

In singles, he lost a tight three-setter to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard after two and a half doubles. In doubles, he won his opening match with Novak Djokovic before losing in the quarterfinal.
After concluding his Brisbane comeback, Kyrgios revealed he felt pain and admitted that he may not be able to play at the Australian Open.
“I felt I’d been hit by a bus after the doubles. It’s going to be a rough day tomorrow for my wrist. I was really excited for the Aus Open, and after today … the reality set in to be fair. I almost need a miracle and the stars to align for my wrist to hold up in a grand slam,” the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up said.
