Nicklaus on Scottie Scheffler: Young players are coming to make his life difficult

Scottie Scheffler was an absolute hit last season. The 28-year-old golfer looked unstoppable to his opponents, doing magical things. Scheffler finished the season with as many as 7 PGA Tour titles, while he also managed to win at the Olympic Games in Paris. Few can boast of such a season, which started to raise questions: Can Scheffler continue at the same pace in 2025?

The popular faces of the golf scene were delighted, including Jack Nicklaus, who only had words of praise for the American. The 85-year-old golf legend is satisfied with Scheffler’s human qualities in addition to his athletic qualities.

“Scottie’s really a good player,” Nicklaus said, as quoted by Irish Independent

“He’s a nice guy, everything seems to be very balanced. He’s married, has a family, he loves other stuff. He likes to be involved. I like Scottie a lot.”

Jack Nicklaus: Young talents will emerge who will make his life difficult

Nicklaus drew a parallel between Scottie’s past and present, stressing that Scheffler could have problems with the emergence of new young talents and faces who want to be at the very top of the golf scene. Of course, from year to year, new names arrive that will really be motivated to topple him from the throne. However, it will not be an easy task for me.

“He’s had a great past and he’s going to have a great future still in front of him. And probably there’s a lot of really, really good young players that are coming along that are going to make his life more difficult.

But also they’re going to find a lot of young guys who want to have success we haven’t even heard of yet.”

The 28-year-old is a person with a specific mindset, who primarily looks at his goals in the coming period. Scottie is determined to continue at the same pace and confirm that last season was not a coincidence.
