Novak Djokovic ended his Australian Open campaign in the semi-final. Novak experienced a torn hamstring injury in his left thigh in the quarter-final against Carlos Alcaraz. The ten-time champion missed training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday to recover for the semi-final.
The Serb battled against Alexander Zverev and lost the opener 7-6 after 80 minutes. The legend felt increased pain in his leg and retired, having nothing left in his body. Many doubted Novak’s injury after his duel against Carlos.
However, the 24-time Major winner silenced them all on Saturday. Novak shared an MRI picture that confirmed the torn hamstring. Thus, Djokovic blasted the “experts” who questioned his acts and the pain he felt.

Novak will miss the upcoming Davis Cup tie against Denmark. He will try to recover for the ATP 500 event in Doha and chase the elusive 100th ATP title. Leaving the Rod Laver Arena on Friday, Djokovic received boos from the crowd despite giving them so much over the years.
Zverev stepped in and defended his good friend. Alexander asked the crowd to show respect toward the legend who would never retire from his favorite tournament without a significant reason! World no.2 also emphasized everything Novak has given to our sport.

Djokovic claimed his previous two Australian Open titles after dealing with injuries. However, that was impossible this week, especially at 37! Novak tried to rest his leg for two days, but it did not help. He fought valiantly against Alexander for 80 minutes before ending his campaign.
The veteran asked for a medical timeout during his Tuesday’s clash with Alcaraz. The legend struggled for two sets before the medication started to work. Novak outplayed Carlos in sets three and four to advance and reach the semi-final.

However, the Serb could not complete his 50th Major semi-final despite stepping on Rod Laver Arena and trying his best. Djokovic saved five break points against Zverev and stayed on the positive side. They pushed each other to the limits in the tie break.
Novak played against a set point at 5-6 and netted a volley, dropping the opener in 80 minutes. Afterward, he decided to retire due to the immense challenge ahead of him, compounded by a worsening pain in his injured leg.
An MRI confirmed the reason for Djokovic’s retirement, and it should prompt some individuals to reconsider their words and actions!
