Novak Djokovic expressed hope to play doubles with Nick Kyrgios again later this year and received a rapid public response from the 29-year-old.
In his first post-wrist surgery tournament at the Brisbane International, the Australian also made his doubles debut with the Serb. And it was a solid debut since they beat Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies in their opener before they fell short to doubles specialists Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus in a very tight three-set quarterfinal battle.
Between November 2-8, Belgrade will host an ATP 250 tournament. Djokovic is intending to play at his home event and he would like to bring Kyrgios with him.
“I do really wish that we play another time [in] doubles. Later on this year we have a tournament in Belgrade, I’m planning to play it. I don’t know if he’s planning to come, so maybe, yeah, maybe we should slam it there,” the 37-year-old said at the Miami Open.

In Miami, Djokovic also revealed that in Brisbane, he tried to give some advice to the Australian and share how he goes about his fitness routines and what he usually does to keep his body in good condition and stay healthy.
“I tried, when we played doubles in Brisbane earlier this year, to kind of draw him into some of my warm-up, cool-down routines,” the record 24-time Grand Slam champion said.
After Kyrgios defended the Serb during the Australia visa saga, the Djokovic family invited the Australian to be their guest in Serbia. Later this year, that might finally happen.
