Ons Jabeur funnily revealed that during the first session, she told her husband and fitness coach not to tell her what to do and that their first session didn’t really go that well.
In 2015, the WTA star married former Tunisian fencer Karim Kamoun.
Two years later, the Tunisian tennis star figured out that her husband could also serve as her fitness coach.
On the latest episode of the Nothing Major Podcast – which is hosted by former American players John Isner, Sam Querrey, Jack Sock and Steve Johnson – Jabeur was a guest.
And when asked about her husband also being her team member, Jabeur – who is known as Minister of Happiness on the Tour, explained how their partnership started in a pretty funny but also honest way.
Jabeur: I was like, ‘Don’t tell me what to do’
“It was funny when we started working together because, obviously, we were dating before, and then we thought, maybe we try and work,” the 30-year-old said.
“He became my fitness coach, and the first time he told me to go around, I was like, ‘Don’t tell me what to do, don’t give me… Then he was throwing the medicine ball, and he was kind of a bit far.
“He was like, ‘You don’t know how to throw, you don’t know how to catch it.’ I think the first session ended in 15 minutes.”

After cracking a few jokes, Jabeur noted that one of the first things she did was tell her husband to always be completely honest with her and that their work would never impact their relationship and private life.
Since the Tunisian has made three Grand Slam finals and has been ranked as high as No. 2 in the world, it is safe to say that 38-year-old Kamoun has done a pretty good job as a fitness coach.
Meanwhile, the former world No. 2 is set to play at the Abu Dhabi Open, where she drew Jelena Ostapenko in the first round.
