Ons Jabeur took a step back in 2024

Ons Jabeur’s season ended prematurely due to a shoulder problem that affected her performance, in 2024.

It must be said, however, that the Tunisian certainly had a season that was not brilliant, despite the injuries, also due to a lower level of play, compared to her last two brilliant years. Obviously, the shoulder never allowed Ons to play freely in 2024.

Precisely to definitively resolve a condition that was starting to become increasingly burdensome, the Tunisian made an important decision after having carried out some tests and analyzed the situation with all her medical staff and team. Jabeur has ended her tennis season early, hoping to return to the court without further problems in Australia in 2025.

The goal is to take time to recover 100% and chase that Slam dream that she has shown on more than one occasion she can win.

“This year has been extremely challenging for me and, as athletes, we know that recovery is part of the journey. Due to the persistent shoulder injury, my medical team and I have made the difficult decision to sit out the remainder of the season.

While I take time to heal, I will dedicate myself to charity work and ensure I can make a real difference in the world. I thank you all for all the support you give me and I look forward to coming back stronger than ever. We will see each other on the court in Australia in 2025,” she said.

Jabeur has failed to find consistency during this unfortunate year and achieved her best result at the Roland Garros, on the surface most unfavorable to her, pushing all the way to the quarterfinals and surrendering to Coco Gauff. The 30-year-old had already withdrawn from both the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati and the US Open.
