Rory McIlroy has always been in the spotlight, but especially before the start of the Masters, the only Major he is missing in CW.
The 34-year-old golfer tries again and again, but it seems that the enormous pressure from the public and the media mainly creates additional stress for him, which results in failure at the Masters.
Before the start of this major, well-known analysts and journalists make predictions regarding Rory’s chances of winning the Masters, and Sky Sport’s Rich Beem believes that McIlroy, despite the obstacles he encounters in this tournament, has a special mindset that allows him to return to winning ways.
Beem expects that Rory can make a massive success this year.
“I think if you’re as talented as he is, you can go ahead and take some chances every now and again. Sometimes you might hit the wall and flame out, but sometimes you’re going to go around and you’re going to lap everybody.
And I think that’s kind of what we saw last year at Quail Hollow [2024 Wells Fargo Championship], right? It was going up against Xander Schauffele going into the final round. All of a sudden he goes on a birdie run and just puts everybody in his rear view mirror.
That’s what makes him so good and why he can win every year.”- Beem said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Scottie Scheffler reacts
His colleagues also have words of praise for him, delighted by Rory’s consistency year after year. Although he is certainly the golfer on whom the greatest pressure is placed, the Northern Irishman manages to resist various pressures and stay on top.
Scheffler is delighted with his longevity, stressing that McIlroy managed to stay healthy even though he has been playing for 15 years on the PGA Tour.
Although many feel that when you have qualities, it is not difficult to stay at the top, Scottie stresses that things are quite different than they seem.
