Rory McIlroy reacts with laughter and refusal when asked about phone snatching

During practice this week, playing at The Players Championship, Rory McIlroy experienced an interesting moment. Namely, during practice, the Northern golfer had a problem on the 18th hole, as his shot ended up in the water.

However, what happened after it surprised many. One of the fans, and at the same time a college golfer from Texas, obviously wanted to provoke McIlory, telling him: ‘Just like 2011 at Augusta.’

Rory McIlroy was not deaf to this, visibly angry. The 35-year-old approached the young golfer and his friend, looking for their phone, which he then pocketed and left. The young golfer got his phone not long after, but was kicked out of the golf course due to unacceptable behavior.

McIlroy is quite frustrated with the constant jabs, criticisms, and reactions from people trying to provoke him.

Shortly after, reporters asked Rory to gave his comment regarding this scandal, but the Norther Irishman smiled and refused to talk about his reaction.

Rory said to reporter he would not get an answer on the subject, after which the reporter wondered why Rory did not want to react. The experienced golfer again said he did not want to go into the subject.

Luke Potter decided to apologize: I just made a mistake

Luke Potter later decided to apologize to McIlroy, believing he had made a mistake. While some don’t hold it against him, given that he is still a young golfer and inexperienced, Rory fans don’t believe his apology, feeling that Potter just wanted to get a reaction.

Potter stressed that this was a great learning experience, having no intention of doing the same in the future.

“Look, I just made a mistake, and I take ownership for it,” Potter said.

“I apologize for it. That’s about all that needs to be said. … It’s just a good learning experience. Yeah, I apologize,” he added.
