Sam Querrey makes huge admission about Novak Djokovic

In recent days, fans and insiders have been talking a lot about Novak Djokovic’s shocking defeat in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters 1000. The former world No.1 had high expectations for this year’s edition, in which he dreamed of finally lifting the 100th trophy of his legendary career.

Not only did Nole fail to triumph for the sixth time in California, but he achieved an even worse result than last year (when he was eliminated by Luca Nardi in the third round).

After losing to Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round, the 24-time Grand Slam champion harshly criticized the new surface and the huge difference between the ‘Stadium 1’ and the secondary courts.

At the same time, the Serbian legend acknowledged his current difficulties and added that it is not easy to maintain a consistent level at this point in his career. The 37-year-old from Belgrade is expected to return to action at the Miami Open next week, but his future is really uncertain and some insiders claim that his retirement is near.

Djokovic worries Querrey

On the latest edition of the ‘Nothing Major’ podcast, former American ace Sam Querrey admitted that Novak’s recent loss in California is very worrying: “We’re all like very bullish on Novak still, especially me. I’m starting to lose faith now, I don’t know what happened.

He was practicing well he said and then went out there and losing that match, so odd I feel like to lose that and now he’s got like the next 12 days.”

Djokovic made a lot of unforced errors during his only match in Indian Wells and lost to a player he would have easily beaten until a couple of seasons ago.

It is no secret that Nole aims above all at Grand Slam tournaments and struggles to find the correct motivation in other tournaments, but in this way he risks straying too far from the top positions of the ATP ranking.
