Sara Errani achieved one of her biggest dreams in 2024 by winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games together with Jasmine Paolini.
The winner of the Career Golden Slam in doubles has never hidden her passion for the Olympics and, on the Italian podcast Supernova, she revealed that she has always reserved a special space for the Olympic tournament, preferring it even to the Grand Slam events. But not only that, as she also expressed her opinion on Jannik Sinner’s doping scandal and on the crusade carried out by Nick Kyrgios against the Italian.
“I have often argued with other tennis players: I have always preferred the Olympics to a Grand Slam tournament. A medal has always been a dream of mine. This year has been incredible. I have achieved my biggest dream. When you start a tournament you know very well that every match is tough. Final? Jasmine was very tense and struggled a lot in the first set. I told her to have fun and relax, I tried to calm her down. After a few smiles, she started hitting as she knows how,” she told.
The Italian player then made a comment on Kyrgios. Errani admitted that she has always liked the Australian for the show he is capable of creating on the court, but that his strong statements on the Jannik Sinner case did not go down well at all.

“I don’t know him personally. He has a very strong personality and I’ve always liked him. Watching him play is a show. Thinking about my character, I shouldn’t like him, but I like him. Lately he’s made a few bad and unfortunate comments: in that case I didn’t like him that much. I’m not just talking about what he said about Sinner. He made some rather strong statements. Then when you’re not around and you play less… he seemed self-centered and I didn’t like him that much,” she added.
“The Sinner’s doping case? We talk about it among ourselves. We’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not easy, every case has its nuances and it’s not possible to generalize. You have to know how everything went, it’s difficult. You have to improve the timing, because there are athletes who waited months and months; while others solved it in two or three days,” explained Errani.
