Scottie Scheffler is a golfer who is having an impressive year. The American managed to celebrate as many as 7 times on the PGA Tour, and in addition, he won at the Olympics.
Although it was already known about his talent and the characteristics that make him unique, few expected such a huge rise of the golfer who was born in Ridgewood. Particularly interesting moments this year are his arrest, as well as the birth of a child. Speaking to the PGA Tour, the 28-year-old admitted that he had an incredible year behind him.
“Well, when you put the arrested part in there, it’s kind of funny,” Scheffler said.
“But no, it’s been a crazy year. It’s been a lot of fun. I’m not really exactly sure how to describe it, other than it’s been a lot of fun.”
Becoming such a great golfer is not easy. You will constantly come across obstacles that you have to jump over. There are many examples of pure talent, but for greater success in your career, your dedication, focus, and perhaps the most important: mental strength are important. The American showed that he is mentally strong in many tournaments this year when it seemed that he would not be able to get out of a difficult situation.
Being present is what helps him. An important figure in his development was his college coach, who knew how to calm him down, improve his attention, and direct him on the right path.
When you are a young golfer who has yet to step on the big door, there are many distractions around you, such as school, a girlfriend, or social life. However, his coach gave him guidelines for success in his career.
“I try to stay as present as possible,” Scheffler said.
“I think that was something I really learned from my college coach. At times, early in my college career, I would get distracted. I wouldn’t be as focused as I needed to be. I was always putting in the time, but I don’t think I was as focused as I needed to be at times practicing. I’d be distracted by whether it was school or social life or whatever it was. I’d be thinking about other things while I was doing what I needed to be focused on. And so, he was the one who kind of introduced me to the idea of compartmentalizing your life. And I look at that in terms of just being present where I am.”
Scottie Scheffler’s arrest
Perhaps the moment that remained the most memorable this year was his arrest at the PGA Championship. The popular golfer wanted to avoid the crowd caused by the accident, but the policemen did not accept such behavior and took him to the police station. “I didn’t have, getting to know a lawyer in Kentucky, on my bingo card to start the year,”- he said.
The 28-year-old golfer filled the covers of not only golf magazines but also sports magazines around the world. The golfer who was in the lead at the time and competed for the win in this competition seemed that he would not participate in this competition. However, after the interview, the policemen let him go, and Scheffler had to play the tournament under enormous pressure. After all the events, Scottie had difficulties on the golf course, which is not surprising at all.

Xander Schauffele, also a golfer who has been great this year, finally won the PGA Championship in mid-May this year. Golf fans are questioning whether things could have been better had Scheffler not found himself at the center of the scandal. It is widely believed that Scheffler would win. Do you think the same?
In any case, next year, Scottie will have the chance to celebrate at this tournament, which is one of the biggest on the golf scene.
The PGA Tour player of the year revealed that he has had a hard time accepting some of the setbacks this year, such as the one at the WM Phoenix Open. Scottie highlights that such defeats still hurt, but it just goes to show how hungry the American is for victory, despite the fact that he has won seven times this year.
“Phoenix was tough, being there towards the end and not closing out the tournament,” Scheffler said. “Those losses, they hurt a lot. They really do. We put a lot of work in to be in these positions to perform, and when you don’t perform at your best, it’s very frustrating. It’s sad and it’s tough. But you wake up and try and do your best the next week.”
