Scottie Scheffler’s annus mirabilis could only end with another victory, albeit a virtual one.
According to the GolfBet Instagram account, the dominator of the 2024 PGA Tour season also dominated the betting market (the ranking is based on the collection of the main betting platforms).
Scottie Scheffler, results
With $166.1 million in bets, the Ridgewood player swept the special ranking, recording more than double the bets placed on the second-placed player (also dominator of the ranking in previous years, Editor’s note), namely Rory McIlroy, on whose performances fans bet “only” $74 million.
Next up are:
Xander Schauffele $63.1 million
Max Homa $61.2 million
Ludvig Aberg $58.2 million
Collin Morikawa $57.2 million
Tiger Woods (yes, you read that right) $46 million
Patrick Cantlay $44.8 million
Will Zalatoris $44.7 million
Sahith Theegala $41.7 million
The type of bets placed on Scheffler’s performances were not disclosed, but it is possible to imagine that, given the course of his season (a season that opened with a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastecard and concluded with a victory at the Hero World Challenge hosted by Tiger Woods, excluding the challenge held at Shadow Creek Golf Club), most have him as the winner.
If we analyze only the figures relating to the top 10 of the ranking, we arrive at a turnover of over $650 million, a dizzying figure.
