Scottie Scheffler withdraws from The American Express: Reasons

Scottie Scheffler, after being absent from The Sentry, made a similar decision this time as well. The 28-year-old golfer, who was unstoppable last season, decided not to perform at American Express next week.

The American golfer injured his hand while preparing the Christmas dinner, which is why he could not play in the first tournament this year. Although the world number one wanted to conquer the competition and make even greater success this season, unfortunately, in consultation with the medical team, he made the best decision for his health.

‘After consulting with my medical team,’ Scheffler’s said, ‘I have made the decision to withdraw from next week’s American Express tournament to give my injury more time to heal. I am still hopeful to begin my 2025 season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.’

Scottie is optimistic, believing that he’ll play at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

This tournament will start on January 30th, with big names aiming for victory. If the forecasts are to be believed, the 28-year-old golfer should be ready for this tournament. If the opposite happens, Scheffler will have huge problems, as he will lose points at the start.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is a prestigious competition, having a huge importance for everyone.

Randy Smith, Scheffler’s coach, surprised fans before the start of The Sentry by confirming that Scottie would not be a part of the spectacle. Injuries can be a huge obstacle for many, and the World No.1 can only hope that injuries will not follow him throughout his career.

“On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass,” Smith said in the statement. “Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told that he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry. His next scheduled tournament is The American Express.”
