Sergio Garcia is motivated to make history at the Masters this year, and try to win the trophy again. The Spanish golfer will make history in a different way, considering that this will be his 100th appearance at a Major championship. The experienced golfer spoke to the media about this achievement, saying that there are not many golfers who can boast such success.
“Not a lot of people have been able to get over the 100-Major mark, so it’s obviously an honor and something that I’m super proud of,” said Garcia, as quoted by Golf Monthly.
The Spanish golfer is a person who does not only emphasize success in tournaments. Playing big tournaments is a unique, special experience for him, which he always looks forward to. Garcia’s goal is not only to achieve success, but also to enjoy from the first day, and feel the whole experience.
Although Sergio will probably play many more tournaments like this, he calls for caution, saying that he is not sure how many more Majors are waiting for him.
“I’ve come to realize that every time I’m in one of those Majors that I have to not only give everything that I have, which I always do, but I also make sure that I enjoy it as much as possible because you never know when it’s going to be your last one.”
Sergio Garcia: I’ve been very fortunate to pretty much not miss a Major for 25 years
Playing since 2000, this LIV Golfer has not missed a single Major, but in 2020 he had to miss the Masters, due to COVID. Only the best of this sport can play in such competitions, and Sergio is certainly one of them.
“I’ve been very fortunate to pretty much not miss a Major for 25 years. I only missed one I think in 24 years because of Covid, the 2020 Masters, and even if you don’t want to, you start thinking that that’s normal and it’s easy to be part of the Majors, but it’s not.
I’ve come to realize that, and I try to make sure to enjoy every single one I play now as much as I can.”- he concluded.
