Stefanos Tsitsipas shares he was left “mesmerized” by Paula Badosa when he first saw her during the 2020 Australian Open and that was when he predicted that one day they would one day be a couple.
After the Spaniard was spotted in the stands for one of the Greek’s 2023 French Open matches without a clear reason and knowing that there was no any history behind them, fans instantly started speculating if they were a new tennis power couple. And the answer to that question was given shortly after the two went on a trip to Dubai and officially confirmed their relationship by launching a “Tsitsidosa” Instagram account.
Early in their relationship, Tsitsipas and Badosa used to post and share a lot about their relationship through social media. Lately, they have become more secretive about their whereabouts but one thing hasn’t changed – they still speak very highly of each other in every interview.
Now, the 26-year-old has revealed something new about their love story.
“It’s funny, but Paula and I never really met during tournaments. In fact, we might have only met two or three times before I actually got a chance to go up to her and say hello and introduce myself. I would say the first time I noticed Paula was when I saw her at the 2020 Australian Open, playing on Centre Court. It was love at first sight and I was completely mesmerized from that day on. I remember thinking to myself that one day we would be together,” Tsitsipas told Hola.

Tsitsipas and Badosa briefly split but no one did anything wrong, they said
On May 5th, the 26-year-old Spaniard announced through a message posted on her Instagram Story that she and the Greek decided to go their separate ways. In what looked like a very respectful message, she also said that they would remain friends and on good terms.
The news came as a surprise, considering how highly they were speaking about each other and that there was no indication that a split could be in the cards.
Then two weeks later, Tsitsipas and Badosa were photographed on the streets of Monte Carlo. And that was a major indication that the two reunited. Since the French Open was starting only a couple of days later, the Greek was asked about it as soon as he arrived in Paris.
At the time, the Greek gave a lengthy answer to that question – confirming that they were a couple again – claiming that no one did anything wrong – and that they realized they needed each other shortly after splitting.
“We are together. I’m going to explain why some people create different stories about us. It’s not that I care, but I don’t think people should take it like that. Paula didn’t do anything wrong and neither did I. It was hard for us to be apart and I was also going through difficult times,” Tsitsipas explained at the time.
“I would say that I didn’t take it very well either, because I felt the pressure of the tour, of my work. It seemed like a mountain to combine the two things (tennis and romantic life) and I made the decision to take a break. After two or three weeks I realized that she is a person who has supported me a lot and, when she tried to talk to me again, I felt how intense the love we have for each other is.”

Badosa recently revealed she hopes to be a mother one day
When asked about her reunion with Tsitsipas at Roland Garros, the former world No. 2 just stated that her boyfriend already explained everything.
Then in July – in an interview with a Spanish newspaper – Badosa opened up about her relationship with the Greek and admitted that being a mother has always been one of her goals.
“It has always been very important to me and I have had it in mind since I was little. I have always said that I would like to be a mother, obviously I still have a long way to go, but it is something that I feel especially with my sister, who is 11 years older than me and with whom I have always felt a very internalized maternal part. It is something that I want in the future and that will make me very excited when it comes,” the 26-year-old Spaniard told La Vanguardia.
In that same interview, Badosa also noted that it made no sense to criticize Tsitsipas for her results or other way around because they were pushing each other to be the best versions of themselves.
