Tennessee University women’s tennis team closed out the Texas Invitational, hosted by the Texas Tennis Center, with three singles wins against No.7 Texas Longhorns and two doubles wins against Wisconsin.
In doubles, Tennessee earned two wins against the Badgers. Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso earned a 6-3 win over Taylor Cataldi and Kaja Jacobson. Francesca Mattioli and Thornton earned the other win with a 6-3 win over Aeriel Johnson and Alina Mukhorta. Tomase and Yan fell to a 2-6 loss to Maria Sholokhova and Ellison Reynoldson.
The Lady Vols earned three singles wins against the Longhorns. Maeve Thornton defeated Eszter Meri 7-5, 5-7, 6-4. Elim Yan defeated Shacf Lieberman in a three-set contest, 5-7, 7-6 (12), 6-2. Saray Yli-Piipari added the final victory, over Maddy MacNeille, 6-0, 6-0.
No. 10 Elza Tomase fell 3-6, 6-7 (7) to No. 28 Carmen Herea. No. 19 Catherine Aulia fell 6-4, 7-6(5) to No. 44 Ariana Anahahasty-Pursoo. No. 95 Vivian Ovrootsky overcame No. 54 Vanesa Suarez, 6-4, 6-3.
