Mary Stoiana, the No. 1 ranked college player and senior of Aggies team, has conquered her first singles career title on the professional Tour, winning the ITF W75 – Edmond Open, defeating Alana Smith 7-5 6-3.
The Southbury (Connecticut) native dropped just one set during her run to the title, in the quarterfinals, when she defeated Darja Vidmanova 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. In the 1st and 2nd rounds, Stoiana defeated Allie Kiick 6-1, 6-1 and Sophie Chang 6-4, 6-2. After her win over Vidmanova, she defeated Bulldog Anastasiya Lopata 6-3, 7-5 in the semifinals.
We recall in September, Stoiana – the 2024 ITA National Player of the Year – secured a spot in the NCAA Championships after advancing to the consolation finals at the ITA All-American Championships.
