Tiger Woods will not play Hero World Challenge: I am disappointed

Golf fans were surprised after Tiger Woods confirmed that he will not participate in the Hero World Challenge in December this year. The biggest name of the golf scene, after back surgery in September, decided to take a break, considering that he currently needs recovery. Although some expected that Woods would be ready for the Hero World Challenge, it seems that the situation will be different. The experienced golfer expressed via social media that he is disappointed that he will not be able to participate in the prestigious competition this year, but he will enjoy being the host tournament.

Tiger did not forget to mention exemptions either, where you will find famous names of the golf scene such as Justin Thomas and others.

“I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete this year at the Hero World Challenge, but always look forward to being tournament host and spending the week with @HeroMotoCorp. Excited to welcome our exemptions @JustinThomas34, @JDayGolf and @NickDunlap62 into the field.”- he wrote.

The experienced golfer decided to have surgery this year, considering the back spasm he had for years. The procedure was not easy, but the 48-year-old wanted to get rid of such a problem as soon as possible. The most important thing for him, as Woods points out, is that the surgery went smoothly.

Tiger said he’s looking forward to his rehabilitation, as he wants to get back on the golf course, ready to show his best. The question is of course whether we will ever see the old Woods, but we are certainly looking forward to his return to the golf course, as such a legend attracts enormous attention.

“I look forward to tackling this rehab and preparing myself to get back to normal life activities, including golf.”- he said.

The 48-year-old has had huge problems for years, which makes it difficult for him to return to golf courses in full. In February of this year, Woods withdrew from the second round of the Genesis Invitational. Although some expected Tiger to return in full force, his performances in the Majors were not particularly successful. It was hard to expect that the 48-year-old, after the injuries that marked his career, could come back in the right style at all. Woods has missed a lot of tournaments both this year and in the years behind us. Fans expect to see the best version of this golfer in the near future.

Tiger Woods in April 2017

It is interesting to point out that Tiger had back surgery back in 2017. In addressing the audience, the popular golfer admitted that the surgery went well, optimistic that the back pain and spasms would stop. Obviously, after all, Tiger faced these problems again. This time, Woods wants to finally get rid of such pains, and continue his career in the right direction. In that period, the forecasts were also optimistic, but Tiger seemed to face problems year after year, so it was hard to expect the real version of Tiger.

“The surgery went well, and I’m optimistic this will relieve my back spasms and pain,” Woods said. “When healed, I look forward to getting back to a normal life, playing with my kids, competing in professional golf and living without the pain I have been battling so long.”

Golf fans have always been amazed by his desire and passion for success.

Tiger Woods’ injury history

From the beginning of his career, the most famous name on the golf scene faced problems. The first problem he faced was knee surgery in 2008. Six years later, back problems started, which continue to this day. After all, Woods had to undergo several surgeries, including fusion in 2017. A car accident in 2021 left huge cosequences on his legs, after which he underwent several surgeries.

After the car accident three years ago, Tiger said that the most important thing is that he is alive and that he can walk again.

“I feel lucky to be alive, and lucky to be able to walk again.”

His desire and passion for success are obviously stronger than anything, and Tiger Woods has no intention of giving up golf as long as there are chances to return. The legendary golfer will rest, and it will be interesting to see what he has in store for us in 2025. These are the last chances to see the best of him, so we have no doubt that Tiger will give us a real spectacle next year.

Next year will be interesting for many other reasons, and it seems that most eyes will be on the PIF and the PGA Tour, which will reach a final agreement and unite.
