UNC advances in singles and doubles, at ITA Carolina Regional

University of North Carolina at Chapell Hill started in the best way the ITA Carolina Regional at Chewning Tennis Center. Susanna Maltby and Lindsay Zink both won two matches Thursday in the qualifying draw to advance to the main draw.

Zink defeated Charleston Southern’s Brenda Yoris, 6-0, 6-1, in the opening qualifying round, then defeated College of Charleston’s Jaiden McKee, in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the round of 32, and she will now play Charlotte’s Lucia Aranda at noon today, Friday.

Maltby defeated Gardner-Webb’s Milica Prokic in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, in the qualifying round of 64 before edging Elon’s Madison Cordisco, 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 32, and she will play Elon’s Helen Sarikulaya at 12:30 p.m. today, Friday.

Zink and Boyce then played doubles against North Carolina Central’s Mariana Zottoli and Valeria San Miguel Soria in the doubles main draw, winning 8-2. Zink and Boyce will play NC State’s Gabriella Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo on Friday at 9 a.m.
