Viktor Hovland cannot be delighted with 2024, given that he failed to show his best. The 27-year-old Norwegian had the worst season of his career, but 2025 will be an opportunity to change things.
The young golfer tried to adapt, to change certain things in order to take a step further, but along the way he made mistakes again. At the press conference before the start of the tournament in Dubai, Hovland decided to talk about swing problems.
“I think a lot of people have it maybe misconstrued a little bit that I made a conscious decision to go down this rabbit hole,” Hovland said, as quoted by PGA Tour. “I think it’s just your golf swing is an ever-evolving organism, and every week you’re out here playing, you have intentions and feels that would seem relatively innocuous. But you keep those intentions and feels in there, and then might morph into something else.
It’s just a process of, you know, * happens. I made a poor decision. That’s the game of golf for you. It’s hard to play golf 20 years great.”

The Norwegian is a player profile that is always open to learning new things, listening to the advice of others and progressing. This is one of the reasons why he made such a great career as a 27-year-old.
The Norwegian admitted that the changes during his career mostly brought positive things for him, but will the same happen this time? Hovland is an optimist, aiming to improve day by day, and perhaps make 2025 the most successful year so far. Such a scenario is not impossible when we know the qualities of this young player.
“I’ve always tried to push myself, and even when it was really good, I kept on pushing it, and maybe setting too high expectations because maybe I didn’t realize how good it was or I thought it could continue to get better and better and better,” Hovland said. For the most part of my career, every decision that I’ve made to change something up in order to play better, it has worked.”
