The Norwegian showed how mentally strong he is, not giving up a single moment. The 27-year-old produced three birdies in the last five holes, all the way to victory in this tournament.
Justin Thomas, who had the lead for most of the tournament, could not believe what happened.
In an interview with the media, the Norwegian golfer shared his emotions regarding the victory, saying that he was initially not sure whether he would even participate in this tournament.
“I entered yeah, the last week and wasn’t really sure if I was going to play or not until I got here Tuesday afternoon and played a late nine holes,” Hovland said, as quoted by Independent.

The golfer, who many predict a brilliant career, has not impressed in the last year. Although the world is convinced of the qualities of Hovland, it seemed as if he could not find a solution for his bad performances.
However, during this tournament, he seemed quite different, as if he had much more focus than before. The Norwegian stressed that it is an incredible feeling to celebrate, especially when he knows how unsuccessful he has been lately.
Golf has once again shown how amazing a game it really is.
“I played nine holes in the pro-am the next morning and we were here ready to go. Yeah, wasn’t sure I was going to show up, but I’m glad I did.
It feels unbelievable. It’s been quite the struggle the past year and a half, so for me to come back and win this tournament is quite incredible because I was not very hopeful with my game leading into this week.
Just goes to show this game is pretty crazy.”- he concluded.
