Watch: Alexander Zverev betrayed by his racket in Buenos Aires

Alexander Zverev has digested the tough loss against Jannik Sinner in the final of the 2025 Australian Open and is ready to return to action. The world No. 2 – who had been very himself after that match at Melbourne Park – continues to believe he can win a Grand Slam title and is working even harder to achieve his biggest dream.

The German champion has been approached by Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP ranking, after the young Spaniard clinched his first title in 2025 in Rotterdam last week. The ace from Hamburg decided to play on red clay in South America this year and flew to Buenos Aires several days early to get used to the conditions.

His first opponent in Baires will be Serbian ace Dusan Lajovic, who plays very well on this surface and will have nothing to lose.

In recent days, Sascha has had to deal with several unforeseen events. First, her luggage was shipped to the Maldives instead of Argentina due to an error.

The 2025 Australian Open finalist is only focused on tennis right now and is really practicing with the utmost commitment to play his best tennis since his debut.

Zverev practices hard

While practicing with Tomas Etcheverry on the center court of Buenos Aires, Zverev literally broke the frame of his Head racket after hitting a forehand.

Alexander was very surprised by this event and handed his racket to a person sitting on the sidelines.

Recently, former ATP ace Mats Wilander spoke again about Sascha’s loss in the 2025 AO final: “I’m starting to wonder if Zverev still has faith in himself. When I see this performance, not in terms of ball striking or tactics, but in terms of emotional input, I’m starting to wonder.”

Mats also added: “I’m sure he believes in it at the beginning of the match, but you have to believe in it in the third set when you win the first point of the last game. You have to bluff your opponent and when he doesn’t do it, it worries me, to be honest.”
