Andrey Rublev is trying in every way to find happiness both on and off the tennis court. The Russian ace has had numerous problems in the last twelve months, he has had to face the nightmare of depression and his performances have taken a back seat.
Although he achieved some good results during the 2024 season – such as the victory at the Mutua Madrid Open and the final at the Montreal Masters 1000 – it was evident to everyone that the player from Moscow was not well and his frustration often resulted in an episode of real self-harm.
Andrey gave the feeling of being calmer in the first two months of the 2025 season, although he was eliminated already in the first round at the Australian Open by the young Brazilian star Joao Fonseca. The Russian had to acknowledge the clear superiority of his opponent on that occasion and did not particularly suffer from that defeat, having understood that the Brazilian’s performance had been really close to perfection.
Rublev’s approach paid off at the Doha ATP 500, where he deservedly lifted the trophy despite 4-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz and Serbian legend Novak Djokovic also being in attendance.
However, the world No.8 did not follow up on that victory because he was prematurely eliminated in Dubai the following week.
Rublev is furious
The Russian star arrived in Indian Wells early to be ready for the first Masters 1000 of the season, where he reached the semifinals as his best result in 2022.
In the last few hours, a video has gone viral on social media depicting Rublev furious during his practice session with Cerundolo.
After making a trivial error, the Russian player threw his racket on the ground several times, showing that he is still far from overcoming certain problems.

His first opponent in California will be Italian ace Matteo Arnaldi, whom he defeated in the semifinals of the Canadian Open in the summer of 2024.
