Ben Shelton has started the 2025 season quite brilliantly, showing some progress compared to last year and hinting that he has very important ambitions for the coming months. The American ace is one of the most dangerous players ever on fast surfaces and is working hard together with his team to become competitive on red clay and grass as well.
The world No.13 reached the semifinals at the 2025 Australian Open last month, surrendering only to current dominator of the men’s tour Jannik Sinner after seriously struggling him in the first set.
That match showed Ben all the weaknesses he still needs to fill in to become a top player, who can aspire to win Grand Slam titles in the future.
The young American is playing in the Dallas ATP 250 this week, where he made his debut with a very easy victory against Australian ace Vukic.
His next opponent will be Spaniard Jaume Munar, who is a specialist in red clay and should not create too many problems for him on such a fast court.
Shelton on his hair care routine
Before the start of the Dallas ATP 250, the AO semifinalist answered some very funny questions from fans.
A fan asked him to talk about his hair care routine: “Get out of bed, walk out the door. No I am kidding, I mean I use shampoo and conditioner. I don’t know what it’s called. Forget who got it for me, one of my light skinned friend.”

The American ace also reflected on his win over Vukic: “He is obviously is a guy who’s a great server. Actually, I beat him in my match to make the Top 100 and he ‘bagelled’ me in the first set that match, so not an easy matchup for me.”
Shelton is convinced that this victory will be very useful for him for the rest of the tournament, where he aims to lift the trophy.
“To break him three times tonight is something I take a lot of confidence from and moving forward into the rest of the tournament, feeling really confident” – he concluded.
